Rosacea is essentially characterized by facial redness (erythema). It is usually considered a harmless cosmetic condition. Rosacea normally begins as redness on the central face across the nose, cheeks or forehead. It can also affect the neck, ears, scalp and chest. Sometimes some small bumps and pustules can form, and the person can have red gritty eyes, burning and stinging sensations. In more advances cases of Rosacea a red lobulated nose (called rhinophyma) can develop.
